BECG was delighted to see Fareham Borough Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant outline planning permission (OPA) for Welborne Garden Village last week, a 6,000-home scheme in Hampshire that will be delivered by Master Developer Buckland Development Ltd.

As one of the Government’s original 14 Garden Villages nominated in 2017, Welborne has a national as well as regional significance. It is the largest application ever received by Fareham Borough Council. Alongside 6,000 homes, it will deliver: three new primary schools; a new secondary school; healthcare, leisure and community facilities; up to 10,000sqm of retail space and up to 105,000sqm of business space providing 5,700 jobs; and a significant amount of formal and informal public open space, including the 12.5 hectare central Welborne Park.

Buckland Development Ltd is in a unique position to deliver Welborne, as both landowner and Master Developer; it has a genuine, long-term commitment to creating a community, not just homes, for generations to come.

BECG has worked with Buckland Development Ltd since 2012, providing support for Welborne Garden Village including political and planning communications, community engagement, media relations as well as website development and social media services.

BECG continues to advise and support Buckland Development in all communication activities as Buckland prepares for a busy year ahead developing design codes and preparing reserved matters applications. In addition to BECG will be advising on national and local government relations to maintain the profile and awareness of Welborne within Westminster and Whitehall.
