More and more regional mayors are adopting a ‘people-first’ approach as the best way to make a real and lasting difference to local people’s lives up and down the country. An increasing focus on placemaking and regional development means that the construction and infrastructure sector will need to work in partnership with devolved administrations and local communities, to think more about people and to focus on place rather than just projects.

Putting placemaking at the heart of regional development and the promotion of a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces, means maximising local communities’ assets, inspiration and potential and the creation of public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and wellbeing as well as being environmentally sustainable. This webinar explored what taking a placemaking approach means for our industry and showcased best practice examples from around the UK.
