Majority of local councillors believe waste and recycling charges will have to be introduced to meet proposed standardised collections

 

As the Environment Bill continues to make its way through Parliament with wide-reaching changes for consumers, waste operators and local authorities, BECG and Cavendish Advocacy commissioned YouGov to gauge councillor views on standardised waste collections as just one of the changes coming forward.

Our research found that the majority of councillors believe their local authority would have to introduce additional costs or chargeable services to meet the new standards, but over half believed the changes would drive up recycling rates in their area.
