BECG renews support of The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity
We are pleased to continue our charity partnership with The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity for a third year. With clients across the built environment sector, we are committed to helping the charity raise awareness of its services and break down barriers to mental health advice and support.
This year we donated £5 per response from our Digital Communications Benchmarking Survey and at Christmas we bought £500 worth of virtual Christmas crackers from the charity which we sent to our clients.
The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families and has been running since 1956.
As well as providing a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, they also provide a helpline app offering support for those who may not feel comfortable calling or are unable to use a phone.
The helpline is the first point of contact to access a range of completely free and confidential support services including:
- Advice on welfare and mental wellbeing
- Emergency financial aid to construction families in crisis
- Support on legal, tax and debt management matters
Recently they have launched their Help Inside the Hard Hat campaign which aims to raise awareness of poor mental health within the construction industry. In the UK, two construction workers take their own lives every working day and stress, anxiety, and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses so we are keen to continue our support of the charity.
Stephen Pomeroy, BECG CEO, said:
We’re proud to be partnering with The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity for a third year. With many of our clients working within construction and infrastructure, the support the charity offers is one close to our hearts.
From a 24/7 helpline to emergency financial aid, the work they do is fundamental to the industry. They are the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to workers and their families.
